Vanessa Stark’s work is original and organic, flowing from a subconscious realm.
Her authentic, often colourful creations fall within an emerging, yet un-named movement of art that can be seen throughout communities who’s lives are tied with nature, like mountain ski towns and surf communities.
It is an expressionistic modern form that draws from nature.
A similar style of bold lines and vibrant colours have been seen for thousands of years through art found on cave walls as well as the many stunning styles of First Nation’s art from around the globe. This art was also created by cultures connected to and people living within nature.
When we create art from an authentic place of creative originality we tap into and express not only what’s in us but also all around us.
Like putting a filter on a photo, the organic art that comes through it’s creator has been filtered by their Spirit. This creates their own unique style within a genre.
Like laughing, crying and gestures of love and kindness, art is a universal, ancient, instinctual language found within all of human kind.
Through Nes’ work she captures moments, feelings and tells stories through the emotions found in hard and soft lines, gestured movement and bold and gentle colour. Her work generally speaks of strength, kindness and the joy and positivity found in nature and within life’s collective magic and wonder.
